Structured Day Treatment

What to expect from the planned PHP.

A partial hospitalization program provides intensive treatment during scheduled daytime hours while the person returns home in the evening. It is often used as a step down after inpatient care or as a step up when outpatient therapy alone is not providing enough support.

The planned program is expected to include structured clinical programming with therapeutic groups, individual clinical contact and psychiatric oversight appropriate to the level of care. Specific daily schedules, program length and group structure will be confirmed as PBBHC finalizes its outpatient services.

PHP is not the same as inpatient hospitalization and is not the same as an intensive outpatient program. PHP generally involves more hours of structured treatment per week than IOP. The right level depends on symptoms, safety, functioning and the amount of structure needed.

01

Confirm the program is open

Call PBBHC before making arrangements. Intake will explain whether the PHP is accepting patients and which ages it can serve.

02

Complete an assessment

A clinical review will determine whether PHP, IOP, inpatient care or another option best matches the person's symptoms, safety needs and level of functioning.

03

Review the schedule and requirements

The team will explain program hours, expected attendance, transportation considerations and insurance or payment requirements published at launch.

04

Begin structured treatment

Once enrolled, the person attends scheduled daytime programming and returns home in the evening, with progress reviewed throughout.
